I find these routine problems on almost every forum I visit. Please don’t misunderstand me. It’s just as we advance to high school , things change suddenly . Studies become complex all of a sudden. As a result, students encounter trouble in doing their homework. algebra with pizzazz 63 in itself is a quite complex subject. There is a program named as Algebrator which can assist you in this situation.

Algebrator is very useful, but please never use it for copy pasting solutions. Use it as a guide to understand and clear your concepts only.

Have a look at the lessons available at http://www.polymathlove.com/properties-of-negative-exponents.html. You have abundant information on Basic Math, particularly on triangle similarity, roots and reducing fractions. Good luck!
