I've always wanted to excel in solving quadratic equations extracting the root, it seems like there's a lot that can be done with it that I can't do otherwise. I've browsed the internet for some useful learning tools , and consulted the local library for some books, but all the data seems to be directed to people who already understand the subject. Is there any resource that can help new students as well?

I totally agree, Algebrator is great ! I am really good in math since I used it, and I have the highest grades in the class! It helped me even with the hardest math problems, like those on rational expressions or function domain. I really think you should try it .

Have a look at the lessons available at http://www.polymathlove.com/solving-quadratic-equations-2.html. You have plentiful information on Remedial Algebra, particularly on radicals, sum of cubes and adding exponents. All the best !
